At Lil Scholars, we envision a future where Chicago's youth live a life free of violence by leveraging literacy as a powerful tool to break cycles. We envision a Chicago where the transformative power of education not only uplifts individuals, but also strengthens communities.

 

Mission

Recognizing that third-grade test scores can be a predictor of whether or not a child will become a victim and/or perpetrator of violence, we aim to intervene at this critical juncture, redirecting the trajectory towards one of opportunity. At Lil Scholars we dismantle barriers to academic achievement through our summer math and literacy program, creating an environment where every child, regardless of background, possesses the skills to navigate life successfully. Students receive group and one-on-one tutoring with the goal of preventing summer slide and bringing them up to grade level or beyond in math and literacy. ​
